This August week, we love to see what is brewing in your Season!
Something you like to do on a regular basis, or long trip, o a short one. Close or across the globe. an event or change in your life … the sky is the limit.

the link is open Sunday (Aug 6) through Wednesday ( Aug 9) evening 7 pm, Pacific time

Thank you everyone who linked last week for your lovely, witty, stunning, and heartwarming experiences!
When you are an early bird, you may want to check back on Tuesday or Wednesday, to get connected with these birds:)

These are all hubby’s images. He is actually the photographer. I just take “pictures” – haha.

Most of his excursions with his photo class in Southern California have been at night, going to Disney Land to shoot fire works, or the harbor in Long Beach. Interesting and mysterious light effects, eh?
He won’t call himself an artist, but he is (ssshh, don’t tell him).

The tell tale sign is when talking about an image. My eyes wander off to the ceiling  when lingo starts sounding like  a foreign language. The same look I get sometimes when I talk about one of my paintings.

His photo club actually grew out of a class, where people had signed up, had very different interests. The one I remember were sports, modeling, animals, etc.
One his interests is wood, and small details in the forest.

Another of his interests are capturing flowers. You won’t believe it, but these are cactus flowers – this one had at least 6-8 flowers – too large to get a good close up. We  were at Balboa Park , San Diego in May one time, and discovered that they had a sale of cacti in the open air, and ran into a cactus exhibit across. This had won first price that year. In big cities you will find all kinds of organizations and groups with specific interests.

Hope you enjoyed this little August diversion and who knows  even inspire you to take a photo class or join a photo club:)

Good morning, so beautiful cactus flowers and structure of wood. I know, what you mean: photofreaks (my earlier compagnon was one too) can endsless speak about details and light and and cameras, sigh! I only make a click and I like closeups…
Just begins my day and I’m going offline for today. That is the little problem: when I’m online in the morning, your linkup is still not open and later I forget, that I have to join my post. So I come back often only on monday or tuesday, when I remember. Or I totally forget it…
My daily life is not easy and full of work with a 90 years old mother…
    Enjoy your sunday 🙂

The cactus flowers and the contrasting shapes of the heartwood versus the bark of the log are striking!

  4. Your husband takes beautiful photos! My husband doesn’t take many photos–he has always left that up to me.

Your husband took beautiful macro photos. I have the same as Pat, my husband doesn’t take any photos, but at least he’s patient when I stopped every 5 minutes to take some 🙂 Greetings from Poland.
    Thank you for hosting.

I have to agree with your husband – wood is very interesting. The patterns, the colours, the texture … it’s all great.

  7. Great shots, Jesh. Congratulate your hubby for me!
My entry this week is a little sad as it distils my observations of my home city for the past couple of years… It makes me think of moving to a smaller city…
    Thanks for hosting.

  8. PS: IF your hubby likes flowers, tell him about the Floral Friday Fotos meme. He may like to enter some of his flower photos there:

  9. wow those cactus flowers are just gorgeous. It always amazes me how such beauty emerges from such prickly characters. Thank you so much for stopping by my blog last week and inviting me to join you here. Happy travels!

Thank you Joanne – I’ll pass it on to him.Sorry – have been minimally present on Thurs. Doors – it’s the painting that keeps me away: You can seen a pic of me at a big project at this post -when you see it you’ll understand, lol!

  13. Your husband does a great job! Love that cactus flower!

Those are pretty photos and I can see why he’d be interested in shooting all the colors and textures you find in wood. I’ve done community calendars and am surprised how many different interests the small and medium sized towns cater to as well. I was just thinking about taking a digital photography class but am waiting until I’m so old it’s free (; I’m debating whether to research a better way to shoot sunflowers today since so many people photograph them in really creative ways. I actually like the results I got with a cheap Tough camera better than anything else I’ve shot.

    The cactus flowers are breath-taking!

  16. Beautiful wood and cactus. One so hard and the other so soft. Thank you for pointing me to your prompt. I look forward to joining in in the future.

Beautiful captures from close up and the cactus blossoms are amazing, indeed! So, you&husband are a team and sharing the passion for photography, after all, it is a great job done! 🙂 And I hope that I’m not too late to join your lovely meme, this week…
Best regards and a very inspired creative weekend to you!
