My way back home aka my way back to reality, now we went to town and spent $$ for our first batch of Christmas presents. We made it a rule not to go in debt for these presents!

Great plan not going into debt for Christmas. Knock on wood I haven’t done that ever.
I loved that sky with those great clouds! The rain has been wonderful. I just wish the weeds didn’t love it so well. I can’t keep up with them!

Am mesmerized about the green, and at the same time confused – it doesn’t look like the California I know!
Thank you Deborah! Hope you had a good Thanksgiving? I hardly was on the computer after Thursday, until today. Now we’re both retired, it’s good that our grands live close, so they receive little presents throughout the year. We couldn’t spend in one month what we used to.
Since we live in the forest, no one looks at weeds – am fortunate:);)
Am glad you know the year of the model, I was off about 20 years! (laughing), but I used to live in a neighborhood where a few were always working on their antique car (they were definitely older than the one I pasted) – kind of gave a nice atmosphere…

Isn’t it wonderful when the Grandchildren are close. We can spoil them all year! We do the ame but, we’ve been cutting back on the BIG Christmas getting ready for retirement, and our children and family get it so it’s all good.
+1 for living in the forest! It’s the snow, well, and septic that scare the h e double hockey sticks out of us, so we’re looking at retirement in a much smaller city than where we are now, and houses that have city water and sewer. I don’t know how to live on a well and septic system! I salute you!
Great old car and a lovely carriage!
Since we grew up in Holland – where Christmas was all connected to the church, we never did a big Christmas a home here in the USA. We don’t need to deal with a well – we’re connected to the water system (thankful for that – a well can be tricky, our daughter and hubby found out), but do have a septic tank. Actually you don’t have to do anything, you have companies who empty it every 10 (?) years. Only, you can’t build something on where the leech lines are.For Jacob there are no impossibilities (really:) ) so as long as he deals with it, I’m fine:)

When I was girl Christmas was tied to church as well. I don’t go to church very often now, but my soul and foundation are entrenched and I’ve tried to instill that in my children. I did return to church when they were growing up so they’d have that foundation.
I hope my daughter does the same for #1 Grandson soon! I’m telling him Bible stories to help it along in the meantime.

It looks gorgeous up in your neck of the woods, Jesh. We’re turning green, too. I managed to throw mustard seeds into the backyard before last week’s rain. Looking forward to eating mustard. Is the old-time carriage in Auburn? It has probably been 15 years since we wandered around Auburn. A fun place.
Hmmm, you’re giving me an idea – do you have recipes with mustard greens in it? Ah, you caught me, the carriage is in Old Town Sacramento. Yes, Auburn is unexpectedly touristy. The red white shop Hook and Ladder I posted (I think last week) was also in Auburn. Thanks for the visit!

You asked about Cumbria, it is the home of the English Lake District so known for its lakes, hills and possibly, rain:) My photos show a small corner of the south west sometimes known as lakeless Lakeland. Now the wood, not many willows here although any tree can be pollarded but I really should have called the wood in my photo coppiced. Pollarding lops wood off higher up so Vincent could see those nice shapes but coppicing takes it from lower down, good for forest wild flowers and wildlife but not so often done nowadays.

I like the door (and rest) of the antique store. We also do not go into debt for Christmas or any other time if at all possible, our house being the one exception and we paid that off as quickly as possible. I have some presents already and will be getting the rest soon. Time to put up the decorations as well, but we were out of town over Thanksgiving, so I haven’t gotten that far yet. 🙂

Just bought the house we live in now, two years ago, so we’re on the bottom of the barrel, also because we’re both retired now. so no paying it off quickly for us. But am thankful though for the vacation view we have, and the studio, and two of my kids between 1-2 hrs. away, instead of 7 hrs.:):) We haven’t even bought the tree yet!
Don’t know what is “average” on spending $$ on presents up North where you live, but I was quite shocked overhearing a conversation of a twenty-something, still single, chatting with the cashier, that she spent 2K on presents last year for nieces and nephews…. it was hard for me to keep my mouth shut, lol.
