BETWEEN BRICKS OR ROCKS

Placer County Courthouse in Auburn, CA  This is a rebuild of the first courthouse, because  it was destroyed by fire. This Renaissance style  one on the hill was finished  in 1898.

Ever since I’ve gone over to an Apple laptop my archives have been messed up since my archives were put on an external drive. I could not find the close up from the front door but here’s one one of the side doors.
This is the area (Placerville) where the late painter Thomas Kinkade  lived. Supposedly it’s a town with 10 galleries, but  need to explore that another time.

You gotto love purple for this Bearded Iris.

Kind of tricky to keep up with what a reflection is here, and what not.

If I’m not near buildings, I like to walk in between ROCKS, near water and trees. Somewhere in Yosemite Nat. Park, having a closer look at the small white blooms  in Spring (on top).

Enjoying this period where the sun is  just  warming things up
instead of burning,

I love a flamboyant Iris, Jesh. 🙂 🙂 It’s a little early for them here yet. Thanks so much for sharing. Sorry if it caused you grief.

  2. Fun60 says:

My irises are just pushing through the ground. That’s a beautiful one in your photo.

  3. Lydia C. Lee says:

I thought it was an orchid? Gorgeous none the less…

  4. jesh stg says:

Grief? Maybe I’m not understanding what you mean …do you mean that there are hardly sculpture parks here?

  5. riitta k says:

    Great photos & sunshine!

  6. Pondside says:

Your photos are as good as ever. I think I’d have liked to climb the ups and downs necessary to visit the courthouse!

  7. Kalpana says:

Excellent collection of photos. I think I like the reflections one the most but I would rather not choose as I like each of them as much.

  8. restlessjo says:

No- I thought you’d had trouble linking up? 🙂 No worries- you’re here!

    Wonderful May.

  10. The spring looks inviting. I’d really like to wander around in such an environment.

  11. I really like Auburn. I’ve stopped there for lunch whenever I am passing through it. Downtown is so cute.

I love your purple Iris find! They’re in bloom here too. I visited an Iris garden on Saturday and found them at their peak! It was lovely.

  12. Kay Davies says:

How wonderful! So much to see, so little time, it seems, doesn’t it?
    Thanks for sharing.

I’m not a big stair climber but I somehow manage to get around parks okay and that’s a pretty shot of the rocks and water. Beautiful Iris, I look forward to seeing some color this week.

  14. I am still waiting for my irises to bloom! Spring arrived a little later than usual here this year, but it has gotten warm all at once. My niece is a fan of Thomas Kincaid paintings. He was a prolific painter and commercially successful in his time. Enjoy the good weather!

  15. Anita says:

    Lovely pics.
Nice that you have linked to so many challenges 🙂

  16. …in years past county courthouses were built with such stately style, always nice to see. Thanks for sharing.

  17. some rocks are worth looking at 😉

  18. That’s a handsome structure. There’s something about arched windows and doors that thrill me. Don’t know why, they just do. 🙂 Cheers, Jesh!

I got a new laptop last year and it is always painful, but going to Apple, I can only imagine your pain.

Too early for irises here too, our cherry blossoms and magnolias just bloomed this week.

  20. Peabea says:

Love the color of the Iris. Thanks for sharing at Pictorial Tuesday

  21. Hi Jesh. The courthouse is a beauty. That iris…. so gorgeous. Hugs.

  22. Joanne Sisco says:

I went through the Apple learning curve almost 2 years ago. It was painful at first, but I’ve never looked back. All my devices talk to one another now and play nicely – such a nice change from my PC days.

  23. Well, that’s a mighty fancy door for a side door and I love that shot of the Bearded Iris, Jesh.

  24. jesh stg says:

This is California, Jean – many things here are over the top (the good and the bad)! there is a saying “As California goes, so goes the country.” Kind of a scary responsibility that so many look up to this state as almost heaven on earth.

  25. jesh stg says:

thanks for the encouragement -I’m an anomaly in a family of “Window system” lovers. So, I’m no my own – still struggling with perma links and so on!

  26. I have a friend who used to live in California, she said the same thing as you about it. Scary responsibility, for sure.

  27. jesh stg says:

    Thank you Melody!

  28. Beautiful building, handsome strong doors, and a truly lovely Iris. Nice. 🙂

  29. That’s an impressive building, reminding me of the many courthouses that sit in the middle of towns all over the US. I love irises and cant’ wait until there are some out around us. I have two “volunteers” in our side garden that are a gold color that I’ve never seen before.

  30. Jill Foley says:

    Beautiful iris

  31. jesh stg says:

Hope the golden ones will finally make their appearance:)

  32. jesh stg says:

    Thank you Judy!

  33. Angie says:

Your comment about archives scares me – I am getting ready to move stuff off my computer onto a portable hard drive, and I am worried about losing stuff …. oh well, another of life’s challenges to figure out. Love the bearded iris …

Thanks for your recent comment about my daughter’s graduation. Since she studied stage management, she did not have to master two instruments; she isn’t sure about the requirement for the musicians, although she said everyone she knows at the school that is in the music program plays multiple instruments.

    Have a wonderful weekend!

  34. Great photos! May and sunshine!
    Have a sunny weekend!

  35. Jim says:

    Terrific architecture.

  36. That iris is indeed a true beauty. Ours are blooming next week, I hope.
Where the sun is warming things up in your region, it has been burning overhere a few days last week. At the moment we have a pleasant 20 degrees.
Enjoy your weekend, greetings from the Netherlands.

  37. jesh stg says:

Thank you! Just yesterday one in our own backyard started blooming – a bearded iris (the big kind). “Warming up” in California has a different meaning – It means about 20 degrees C., “Burning” would be 35 C. or higher. I rather have the 20 degrees:) Wishing you a nice and warm weekend!

  38. Peter B. says:

Love the photo of the iris and your skywatch shot. Beautiful!! Have a great weekend.

  39. annie says:

All beautiful photos. I love the doors and the Iris is beautiful.

  40. Joyful says:

    Enjoyed this series of photos.

  41. Joanne Sisco says:

Thankfully I have a son who has been a long-time Apple user. He’s been invaluable in my learning curve!!

  42. Norm 2.0 says:

That courthouse building is lovely and I love the angled looking up perspective shot 🙂

  43. nannie2four says:

Love the architecture on the buildings….great fotos!

  44. I’m a long-time Apple user, Jesh (30 years!) so I can’t imagine not using Apple – give it time, it grows on you 🙂
    Lovely shots!
