SCROLL DOWN FOR THURSDAY DOORS
The word “park” is used facetiously here. In the Los Angeles basin “parks” are not only for trees and lawns with flowers, but a beautiful set of buildings and shops with lots of landscaping but some locals also may call this a park.
Part of the Irvine Spectrum (shops, restaurants, theaters) was planned in 1985. The first part was built in 1995 (Wikipedia).
The Alhambra in Spain was the inspiration for the architecture and atmosphere. Since we visited the Alhambra on our honeymoon many years before, maybe the reason why we like the atmosphere of the spectrum. Not Opulent in reality but being made to give that impression.

These flowers were in my archive folder of Huntington Library Gardens in Pasadena. Peonies have different leaves … anyone know which flowers these are?

Walking to the edge of the water of one of the beach cities, we saw these four birds
Makro-Tex- four, Sat. Critters
Would not mind these pillars framing my (Thurs.) DOOR in Sacrmento
Having enjoyed “the park” of four cities in my mind, I can go home to enjoy the sunset.

Nice photos! 🙂
…those palms are gorgeous!
I’ve never been to that mall. That ride looks interesting. I love the seagulls, and flowers. The pillars and stairs would make a nice entry indeed!
Beautiful photos. The pink flowers might be some variety of cherry?
The page looks bright and fresh, Jesh, and I love the composition of that opening photo. 🙂 🙂 Thanks for linking!
Do you realize it’s in Irvine, Southern Calif.?
Thank you Jo! I would look cross-eyed after replying to so many comments like you have:):) On the other side, they LIKE you!
Do I try too hard to be lovable? 🙂 🙂 🙂
Great photos, I love the blue pillars and door. The pink flowers look like cherry blossom, there’s a cherry tree just round the corner from my home with very similar flowers 🙂
The flowers are a mystery for me too…but they are nice!
I think mine was one of the comments that got lost when cyberspace hijacked your post.
I particularly like the big Victorian house in Sacramento. It has always been my dream (unrealized, however) to live in a beautiful big Victorian. Sigh.

Nice photos!
It catches my eye, when others have more love, guts, skills, or what have you, than I :):)
Thank you Jo – looking at the height of the palms, probably asked hubs to do that one for me, since he’s a foot taller!
Maybe patience is the word? Though not one commonly applied to me 🙂 🙂
a new word learned 😉
wonderful photo too

I do think the flowers are opulant.

Thank you Melody!
Yes, I read that. I’ve never really stopped in Irvine. Driven through it many times, but never stopped there for anything.
While I would personally prefer a traditional park, I support any endeavor that gets people outside and walking! Lovely shots for all of the memes!
Lovely photos, especially of those pink flowers!
I didn’t know that in LA a park could be a shopping plaza or landscaped street full of shops. Interesting. I still prefer the old-fashioned park, whether it’s a small downtown park with lawn and swings or a majestic national park. 🙂 I like the pillars of old California houses, too.

Nice perspective shot looking up the steps to the door.
Irvine looks like an enjoyable place to visit (well, all of them do.) Love Huntington Gardens!

Beautiful flowers even if I can’t help with the name, handsome door, and love the palm trees. I sure would like some of your blue skies. 🙂
Leaned a l lot at our last living place about wealth. Irvine is known for its prestigeous company of business men The Irvine Company. The Irvine Spectrum is one of their endeavors. We lived a stone throw away, and our new Nissan Maxima was the lowest on the totem pole. My/our experience though with wealth is that 99% of these business people and their families are very smart, friendly and not stuck up.
Thank you!
Thanks, displaying height is easy for me, since I’m now officially the shortest in the family:)
What is envious in other big countries are the wide parks and gardens, maintained and cool to roam around. But in our hot environment it is not comfortable roaming in the parks at daytime, so we normally wait till its late afternoon to the evening. But at least in my 5th floor condo unit i always have the wonderful sunsets, just there for me to be thankful for.
You don’t know? Then I don’t feel so bad. These are blooming in a huge botanical garden, so flowers around the world are there.
Wow…sunshine and blue skies..I haven’t seen the sun for 2 weeks now. Just rain, freezing rain and snow..Tomorrow afternoon we might get some sun they said..Worst April ever….but I love your photos which took me to another happier place…
You are making me miss California! My home state! Have a wonderful weekend!
I like those giant palm trees and the reflections in the windows.
I hope you have a wonderful weekend.
Nice walk. BTW, I answered your question on my blog/
I’ve been to the Irvine Spectrum many times, but never knew it was based on something in Spain! Love the sky shot, too. Have a great weekend!
Enjoyed your photos. Have a blessed weekend.
Good collection.
A nice variety of scenery! Charming house-turned-shop.
