ON A BENCH IN THE SUN

A short post to begin with this week, but … who knows more will be added later.

Am beginning to feel what the Northern people go through every winter. All I want right now is to sit on a chair or bench in the sun …. because on Tuesday SPRING BEGAN!

Oil, 18 x 36 inch, Promise, © St Germain
The flowers are there to comfort us that spring eventually will come!
For Makro-Tech – Three, I used part of my painting “Promise” (because the almond blossom blooms first), some of you may recall I painted this a few years ago for a twenty-something whose father was dying, and sent the image by email to her.

Her dad  was a fabulous musician. She showed in a short video on line God had given her a promise, and planted an almond tree in his prayer garden while he was in the hospital,  and showed photos of dancing with her dad as a little girl.
He did die some months after that. Did she know?
No idea, but she is okay, and as I see it, showing the same passion and fervor her dad had in life.

Thursday Luminis Door – showing me that sittin’ in the sun on a bench would be awesome since it’s not yet taken:)

The contrast of the tree and branches was so strong that a blur and glass filter was put on it, so no color was lost.

I know the feeling. Love the painting.

  2. Dan Antion says:

Apparently we are getting another storm 🙁

I’ll be seeing benches like that.

    Great photos.

  3. Fun60 says:

We too have had yet more snow and ice this weekend. My poor flowers are broken and looking sad. I want to also sit on that bench in the sunshine and enjoy the spring blossom.

  4. Jeanna says:

Beautiful oil painting! That lonely bench seems so sad without a frozen butt sitting on it, lol. It was pretty nice here today and spring starts tomorrow but it’s pushing 50˚ all week so I’m still pretty happy. Every time the weather guy says “chance of snow mix” though I groan. The snow is almost all gone except for those ugly clumps here and there and I want to keep it that way.

  5. I love your Spring painting. While it reminds you that Spring will come eventually to your area, it brings back lovely memories to me. Because here in sub-tropical Florida, we do not see that kind of Spring flowers.

  6. Angie says:

I love winter and enjoyed the 2 inches we had overnight – it covered up all the dirty snow piles everywhere. But I am starting to feel a little bit of jealousy when I see all the spring photos everyone has posted!

  7. Ruth says:

Wow, I imagine how cold it is in Northern California. We are getting rain so it is not that cold. But, I can’t wait for spring to make a grand arrival. Nice photos as always!

  8. riitta k says:

I share your feeling & find the gorgeous bench so inviting – despite the snow 🙂

  9. Your painting is calling the springtime. Very beautiful!

  10. Cathy says:

The camellias are lovely, the hope of spring! Thank you!

I’m with you on being ready for a bench in the Sun. Nature has teased us with some of those days, but now back to rain, snow and sleet. Will Spring every really arrive. Today is the first day, however, nasty weather on the way.

I’ve got plenty of sunshine down here for a change! It is indeed a beautiful day today. Hope you get some warmer weather and sunshine soon my dear. The camellia flower is awesome & love your painting!

  13. Marie-OR says:

Love the painting, the sky photo and those beautiful camellias (one of my favorite flowers!) Have a great week…hope it gets warmer!

  14. I’ll bet there’s a letter K SOMEWHERE on that tree!

Lots of charming scenery even if you can’t sit on the bench!

  17. The photo of the sky and skinny branches is calming to the soul, Jesh. Hope you got a chance to sit on the bench in the sun. It’s been raining down here. I’m enjoying it a lot.

  18. Kelleyn says:

The Camellias are lovely! Hopefully, spring is on its way to you too! No signs yet here in Germany! It snowed yesterday!

  19. Norm 2.0 says:

Lovely bench and I really like the color of that door too 🙂

  20. Nothing like sitting on a bench on a warm, lovely day. I may be out this afternoon trying to catch a bit of sun for the vitamin D, but I’ll be bundled up because upper 40’s is the highest it’s likely to get. If the wind isn’t blowing, though, it might be nice. Or I might be inside reading. 🙂

  21. Yes, we need spring to settle in, stay awhile, and bring all her beauty with her. Lovely painting that I’m sure was well received. 🙂

  22. jesh stg says:

Thank you, Judy! Are you excited and probably planning what you are going to do plant wise this year?

  23. jesh stg says:

If it’s 40, I would choose to read inside!!

Thanks Colleen – I glanced at your 13serving post – as I wanted to see what you meant with Vincents-Dali wrap of head, I got a sign in too google page. I left Blogspot because of Google’s lack of privacy measures, so I have to your word for it about Vincent and Dali:) Thanks for visiting me!

Love the painting and the sky shot. We’re finally getting a little rain here in S CA (yippie!!).

  26. prior.. says:

love the door – style and color – but then the bench in the sun – how inviting
    🙂

  27. I ended up having to go in to work for a few hours and it was a lovely day. Would have been perfect for sitting in the sun, as it was 50 and no wind. 😦

  28. jesh stg says:

Sorry, you had to work! Well, here it was raining so hard, thunder and lightening (I was in the studio which is a metal building, so the sounds are exaggerated) -it was sooo loud, I thought the roof would collapse.

  29. Working was fine, although I could have preferred staying home and reading the latest Elizabeth George book. 🙂 I work today, tomorrow, and Sunday, so it will be a busy three days and not much time for anything else.

  30. What a pity you couldn’t sit in the sun at that nice bench for some time.
We’ve had a kind of spring day at last this week, but meanwhile it’s cold and grey again. According to the weather forecast we can expect some snow and frost again at the end of next week …
I love the warm and tiny clouds in your last picture.

  31. I love the painting Jesh and the sky photos… We need spring with warm temps and no snow soon…Michelle

  32. Barb Rogers says:

Lovely post…I found you at Weekend Reflections…but apparently this post has been up for a while. But I’m not complaining…just trying to work out logistics of blog comments from that meme…and have to wait till Sat. to post mine there. I like Blogger still because I post many photos and WordPress wouldn’t let me control them as well…at least when I tried it years ago. Oh, thanks, I’ll get your reply comments by clicking the “notify me of new comments via email” button.

  33. The empty bench does look inviting though the door’s reflection! Hope it hasn’t been too cold in the mountains; did not get to snow country this year but it was a bit cool in the Bay Area. Happy Spring and Easter to you!

  34. Klara S says:

    Wonderful painting.

  35. I can see you in the door! And the bench looks lovely. But the loveliest is the nest. ❤

  36. slfinnell says:

Still waiting on bench-sitting weather to drink my first cup of coffee in the morning. Today it hailed. Ug! Lovely door 🙂

  37. jammy7000 says:

Lovely post, Jesh! Beautiful bird painting.
Thanks for your comment on my “Pathology Mural” post. Yes, it is in oils and it was my first “very big” painting. Although constrained by the subject matter, I enjoyed very much painting it – it was a lot of work and it used up all of my Christmas holidays 🙂
Thank you for joining the Travel Tuesday meme.

  38. Mascha says:

Lovely painting and a selfie! We had a lot of snow here in last two weeks, only yesterday the rest is gone away – we are very waiting for really spring!
    Happy Easter 🙂
