Saturday morning woke up and could only see half of the trees in the forest from my living room, because it was so foggy. Then  remembered that the night before I had heard rain pelting on our sky light.

Serendipitously with the theme of One Word Sunday: abstinence.

Abstinence of sun.
Abstinence of dry warm weather, which is the norm for California. The Californians are addicted to the sun, warmth and blue skies.  So, a lack thereof, is experienced as abstinence:)

For Sunday Trees the palm tree, which is also commonly seen in this state.

  1. 🙂 It’s sunny here today. That terrace looks pretty even in the rain and fog.

    I like pictures of fog.

Even in the rain and fog, it looks warm. It’s 8 and it’s heading to -10 tonight 🙁

Brrrr! Zero (32 F) feels already cold and wintery to me, after living here for 30+ years!:) Keep warm!

  4. Our abstinence from warm, dry weather here in Finland will last still long months…

Thanks. We’re hoping to see 32f tomorrow. A veritable heat wave. If it warms up farther (as predicted) we should see some fog by the end of the week.

Am glad I’m too far away to experience your heatwave:) But I do remember the first two years we were in the USA (CA) – I felt drenched, clothes sticking to me all the time! This last summer I painted in the barn without fan or air conditioning in the studio while it was each day between 95 and 100F – and I was hot, but okay …it maybe just what one is used to, lol.

The sun has only played peek-a-boo the last weeks here. Had to increase the contrast in PS though to make the terrace nice enough to post (and to play up the reflections). It’s Peets in El Dorado Hills (between Jackson and Sac. when going on LaTrobe road – in Spring it’s very scenic and intensely green).).

I love photos of fog … hope your are safe as far as the rain and mudslides are concerned.

Thanks for this one Jesh – I know the feeling of sun abstinence!

    Abstinences are often double felt:)

Thank you for your concern – fortunately we live 7 hours N. of the mudslides, which is the same area as the large fires this summer, close to Santa Barbara (where a few celebs live, like Oprah)
