SOMETHING NEW at a HAPPY FOURTH

On Tuesday it’s Independence Day for the USA-ers. A happy 4th!

Sometimes a new surrounding brings you to a new way of looking at things. Had to go to another continent, to consider this color for my plein air paintings.
For you, door-buffs at Norm’s Thurs. Doors, this one is one of the more modern buildings in the Forbidden City (where the royal palaces are) in Beijing.  The original doors on this palace complex are much thicker, without any glass.
Sorry James, the reflections are kind of blurry.

A small diversion for Fri Hunt:
Inside my newest purchase – don’t know how small this palm stays:)
Keeping it “dark”  in the house, to keep it cool.

This 100+ degrees weather we recently had,  reminds me so much on our time in Utah, where at 6 pm it had cooled down to a 100! Talking about slowing down!

It does give me the chance though how a new environment brought me at a new place in painting. At the time we came to Utah, we lived in Southern California, not used to red soil, wide open skies that change every half hour, being able to have a speed limit of 80 miles per hour!!The only down side was the excruciating heat most days.

What about the new place? Maybe it was the red soil and rocks around me, combined with the red-glaring heat brought me to paint with a beautiful red: medium red, deep hue. It’s not a bright red, like that one of tomatoes, or an orange red, but a red of the Middle Ages, leaning to wine red. May have shown you this one before, but colors never become boring or old in my opinion.

This photo before starting to paint early in Zion Nat. Park,  so this whole scene was in the shade:) Finished painting at 11:30 am.

Reminding you that a painter does not copy reality,
but gives his/her own interpretation on what is seen – the sky on the painting was adjusted to the strong colors of the mountains, and making the white ones in the background stand out.

Trees and Faces were my INCLINATION to sketch when I began my artistic journey.
Still now, I take a camera shot when I see an interesting tree. Having a hey day in the National Parks – here in Bryce Canon, Utah

Another new  item in red I discovered when coming to California and saw the bottle brush.
Definitely hubby’s capture

Am privileged to have an astonishing  fire work sky in our back yard often
