THE BOX

Don’t have an attic, but I do have a box
full of memories
containing letters, photos, significant objects
Actually I have several photo boxes.

In Nice (France; pronunciation: Niece)
walking on our way to the Chagall museum. Not knowing terror would haunt this city later, as well as others in the last weeks. My thoughts are with the ones mourning their loved ones in Europe and the Middle East.

Most of the doors on this location – except for two – are not seen except for the balconies:)
The Chagall is a must-see. Some huge paintings, not seen in the USA

Downtown in an Italian town, the reflection of the car window (below) caught my attention. Technically two of these cars could pass each other! But one night we thought to cut short our drive, but spent an hour on this road, just to avoid hitting people! Never again:)
See all the bikes on the left? A better transportation in these narrow old streets!

Reflection in the window of the car

Mining marble in Carrera, one of the early sites of the marble, made into the sculptures of the Roman (Italian) artists you know from Da Vinci, etc. From far it looked like snow on the mountains!

My favorite April view.

There was one day where the dark set in at three o’clock in the afternoon, when the man on the middle cross died. Not because he was guilty of a crime, but he died for our crimes. It was a dark, but also a Good Friday.
That we may never forget his sacrifice.

HAPPY RESURRECTION DAY

Love the photo of Nice – I think I walked right past that fence! And I also remember those narrow streets in Italy, especially in Orvieto, Siena, Lucca, and in Sicily in Siracusa.

Thank you for your kind comment about creativity – you have the gift of research – definitely -that maybe the reason why you have kept your Nature Notes going for so many years! Wishing you a Happy Easter too:) Jesh~

Stunning photos, especially I love your flower macro shot ❤︎ And indeed didn’t mind if I were in the sunny and warm Nice – it’s grey and snowing here, absurd! Happy Easter & thank you for linking.

I have boxes just like yours for the same purpose. Lovely photos. I would love to visit the Chagall museum.

  22. Norm 2.0 says:

Wonderful collection this week. Ahh those narrow streets. There’s a reason why bikes and scooters are so much more popular there 😉

  23. jesh stg says:

Thank you Norm! They’re much cherished memories of a week in that area:)

  24. Your memory box is pretty, Jesh. I have quite a large one under my bed full of mementos, my photographs are in another huge box. I suppose after having five children I’m bound to have a lot of both. 🙂

  25. Peter B says:

Hard to imagine two cars passing each other in that narrow alley. A white-knuckle ride! My other thought is of your shoe box of old photos and memories. Wonder if those will become a thing of the past as kids grow up in an all digital world?

  26. Michelle says:

I have a few of those boxes. They are a must for preserving memories. Thanks for linking up today. Have a great weekend!

  27. jesh stg says:

Another person wondered if these photo boxes will still remain in a digital age – I think so, since people need tangible reminders of their memories:) The same with books – I love certain books – I want to touch the pages. I can’t see myself doing that with a screen:)

  28. jesh stg says:

I remember when each of my 2 girls brought their -now hubby- home for the first time, the first thing they showed were the photo albums and boxes:)

  29. DeniseinVA says:

Enjoyed the post as always Jesh, marvelous photos. Happy Easter!

  30. Lovely box! We are hoping to make it there sometime at the end of summer! Have a great weekend! Happy Easter!

  31. Debbie Smyth says:

I’m glad you shared your box with us. And that fiery flower is especially beautiful – thanks for sharing it at One Word Sunday.

  35. James says:

Excellent post! I’d love to go to Nice someday!

“Am having trouble figuring it out” – My photo is a reflection of the ceiling and walls of a church.
Everything you see in the picture is a reflection. It was all reflected in a polished marble column. The dark blurry part at the bottom of the photo is my camera and my hand which were to close be in focus. Hope this helps. 🙂

  36. So true, Jesh. You can’t beat a ‘hand’s-on’ experience. I have certain printed books I couldn’t part with, I even love the smell of them.

  37. The same with my daughters and sons. They still take out the old photos when they visit but now they’re showing them to their children. 🙂

  38. scotiaspinner says:

Lovely photos as always – the box is especially appealing, and I love the architecture on the building in Nice. I was only there once, but it was a lovely city to see and remember!

  39. jesh stg says:

Since these daughters have become mothers, I guess they lost their nostalgia:):)

  40. Teresa says:

Beautiful images from Nice! Love the old buildings. I can imagine how dreadful it would be to try driving on those narrow streets. Wonderful painting! Thanks so much for joining Friday’s Hunt. Sorry I’m late to visit.
