I just love the photo of the greens in the little canal – so vibrant and joyful. The colour green is definitely something I’ve been missing lately. I will most likely see the bare ground by the middle of April, in some places, and maybe some bulbs will come up in early May. As for the spinning wheel question you left for me – I started with a Louet wheel from the Netherlands, which I purchased on eBay. I still have it – it has been with me almost 10 years now! Since then I tried an Ashworth Traveller wheel, but it wasn’t right for me. I also have a Schacht Matchless, which is the wheel I use the most. If you do decide to try spinning, I recommend finding a local spinning group or guild where you could try some different wheels before deciding. I prefer a double treadle wheel, and also I prefer castle style to Saxony style, but everybody is different. I started with a drop spindle to learn how to spin, but quickly took to the wheel after learning the basics on the spindle.

  2. Green the color of hope! My favorite color.

That building is grand and lovely.

The necklace before I knew it was a necklace looked like the stars of some constellation in a dark night’s sky as I scrolled down to view the whole image, but found it wasn’t a constellation but necklace! Neat chiaroscuro lighting on it Jesh.

  3. Every definition of the word grand beautifully illustrated here. Thank you so much for hosting Seasons.

I love the building – so ornate!

  5. Amsterdam’s canals would be a great to see. Thanks for sharing, have a great week and please stop back again.

  6. Ruth says:

The waterlilies are beautiful. I like those a lot. The lively greens are cute too. They have a “texture” to them that I have not seen before.

Lovely Jesh, and indeed you are right… much of that grandeur can be found in The Netherlands…

    Have a nice ABC-day / -week

Church by the canal looks so cool, lovely captures. The green photo is amazing. Looks like green road, not canal… 🙂 Nice finding.

  9. Sue says:

Beautiful water lillies Jesh, and your photos are all wonderful. I love that blue canal boat too!

  10. All of these photos are beautiful. I’d love to visit Amsterdam someday…

  11. riitta k says:

All are gorgeous photos. As a nature lover I love best the waterlilies and greens in the pond. Thank you for linking – happy day!

  12. You had me and my wonderful memories when you said Amsterdam canals. 🙂 Love the header shot.

  13. jesh stg says:

Hope you took the boat rid while in Amsterdam – the quickest way to see as much as possible of all the building styles!

  14. Norm 2.0 says:

Nice one. That is a beautiful building too 🙂

  15. jesh stg says:

All these houses along the canals were once owned by rich 16-17th century merchants, who lived there for convenience, so the products that came by ships (many times from the East Indies), were unloaded right in front of their house and stored in their house.
Will come back later to visit your doors!

  16. Jim says:

Beautiful sky. Mine is a grey one today.

  17. LaVoice says:

Enjoyed all the great sights you shared but the big, white, fluffy clouds against a bright blue sky my favorite.

  18. Peter B says:

Beautiful photo of the water lilies! Glad you are seeing more sky than you used to in the city. That’s a real treat!!

  19. Michelle says:

I do love those lily pads and puffy clouds. So beautiful! Thanks for linking up today and I hope to see you back next week!

  20. Beautiful shot of those water lilies Jesh. My friend is just back from her first visit to Amsterdam, she loved it and is planning another trip soon.

  21. jesh stg says:

Thank you Jean! That one is in San Diego, Balboa Park (which goes way beyond a park – these lilies are in front of a botanical building, artist shops, musea, science building and restaurants – it;s like a little village in itself).
For you in Europe, Amsterdam is a short trip:)

  22. Anni says:

Oh, I love the fresh green colours in the little canal! No boats will be able to go there, it’s like a garden in itself. A water garden.

  23. bettyl - NZ says:

You shared a lovely series of images with us. I absolutely love the ‘grand ole’ architecture of the past, it has such personality, I think. The green growing in the canal is really pretty. The black on black necklace shot is really clever.

  24. trablogger says:

Your stay in Amsterdam seemed to be nice and interesting for mundane. Thank you for sharing it with us !!

  25. Pieni Lintu says:

Nice shots! Thanks for joining our black challenge on MakroTex. 🙂

  26. I would love to visit Amsterdam but I don’t know if that will happen so I really enjoyed your post…Michelle

  27. jesh stg says:

Thank you Michelle? Have you visited Germany (where your hubby is from)?

  28. Hubby was born in New York. I have not, but his Mother visited the village that she grew up in and then had to escape from.

  29. irja says:

Lovely images ♥ Helmikoru oli erittäin kauniisti kuvattu.

  30. It’s on my bucket list Jesh. 🙂

  31. jesh stg says:

Because of the outcry about other ethnic groups suffering (and they have), the Germans who suffered went unnoticed, which is sad. We have some German friends in South of Germany, so we heard the stories:(

  32. budget jan says:

Love your Grandeur and history along the Amsterdam canals. I’d love to return to Amsterdam one day. A canal boat trip would be an excellent way to explore. I’ll have to look into that!

  33. Teresa says:

What a wonderful collection! I love the lily pads. Very pretty. Thanks so much for joining Friday’s Hunt. I hope you have a great week!
