WEEKEND PLEASURES

My pleasures for the weekend are not necessarily parties or an expensive restaurant. The things of this post give me more satisfaction.

Friday Hunt
Begin with K: Knitted capelet
Week’s Favorite
Drink

Knitted this a few years ago, but still am thinking about who to gift it to. May be my highschool grand, who’s according to her mama her high maintenance girl (fashion wise). It’s a capelet to put (like a cowl) you put over your head (to top a sweater or coat), to keep neck and shoulders warm – fashionably.

I took your seat, Dear:)
Sat. Critters

Color of Hope

Was excited to run into a show of staghorns in San Diego while
we were at Balboa park in San Diego.  Discovered a plant
one-sixth this size was going for $99 at a nursery,
because it grows very slow. A staghorn can become very big.

Some people grow it on a tree, on a shade side. The “antler” kind of leaves have a velvety appearance. And the base (where the antler leaves come out of) is green, and then turns brown.
In the mountains we need to take it inside when it freezes at night.

A Oolong tea was my favorite drink of the week waiting at Beijing airport to fly back to the USA.

Silhouettes in striped sunsets – never as many as where I live now!

  3. Very nice variety of photos! We have a humongous staghorn fern. It is so bug and heavy now.

My wife had a GIGANTIC staghorn fern for many years. I didn’t realize they are so expensive!

  6. That sky is breathtaking!

I like that pattern on your caplet. It looks like you’re a very skilled knitter too! I think I knitted one pot holder when I was about 10. I haven’t knitted anything or learned beyond that. So, I’ve forgotten how to knit at all!

  7. I really enjoyed looking at the sunset. Glad you had your favorite tea before heading back stateside. Learned something about the staghorn fern. I think I have seen them at the Chicago Botanic Gardens. I do admire that fern. Good job on the photos. Happy St. Patrick’s Day!

Beautiful sunset, J. Reminds me of the photos that I took in Italy last year.

Oh, and thanks for visiting my blog. Comments was down before, but I fixed that problem.

The sunset is beautiful, but my favourite is definitely the knitted capelet. It looks like something I would like to knit also. Knitting is very therapeutic for me. Your stitches are lovely and even.
