A NEW BEGINNING
Exciting
Scary
Hopeful
Planning
But first saying goodbye to the past (which is last week, lol)
The Good: Afterglow of a surprise from a brother in Holland to his sis in the USA a week ago.
- This collage is from Smilebox – could have made a better choice, but this is what it is:)
- Awesome daughter made the perfect Beef Wellington (left top), who
- immediately started helping with Macenzie’s first lego set.
- Boo with his uncle (pretending to help),
- San Francisco Airport, and
- a shot with our oversees son who just wrote his first novel last month -what a ZEAL. We see him about every two years. We’re a tribe of 14, sorry- not pics of everyone this year
(Randomosity, Mosaic collage, ABC Wed., Fri Hunt)
At the beginning of the year it’s good to review what is important.
The Fun: we are a family of travel
Blue Monday, Travel Tue, Communal Global, Travel Photo Thurs
The Random: Places of nature have a high priority. Camellia soon to bloom (in California)! Nature Notes, Floral Fri Foto, Todays Flowers
*Fri Hunt
Begin with A: Afterglow (1)
Weeks Favorite: Reflection of bridge
Beginning: The beginning of the year 2017
A DOOR (under the second arch from the right – the others are all windows!) of Star Mill Coffee in Old Town Sac. (2nd on right)
Coffee is a high necessity
(Thurs. Door, Tue Treasure)
After John Sutter came in 1839 to the American River, the Gold Rush in 1848 created this commercial center. First called Sutter’s Embarcadero, became (now: Old Town) Sacramento. It was back then a “trading center for miners outfitting themselves in the gold fields.” (info@oldsacramento.com)
Uh, is it safe to come out in the New Year?
The direction we are going is important to us. We care about what is happening in the country we live in. (Tue Texture, Fri Greens, Sat. Critters)
*
Romans knew roads and bridges are necessary for travel. Sometimes we need to build a bridge (in our mind) to get to the other side of an issue
Week. Reflection at the landing
in the harbor of Old Sacramento

Sigh, I did think that about 2017…do we want it to happen!? Happy new year!
May the new year bring you fantastic things! As for your ‘question’ on my blog about the mountain photo, it was taken from the yard, too, as my camera has 83x zoom 🙂
Happy New Year.

Nice that you don’t have to climb!
Great reminders and words of wisdom as we embark the new year!!
Great photos to accompany your thought and anecdotes, thanks for sharing them with us for Mosaic Monday this week.
Happy New Year from Normandy.

That is the cutest little thing I’ve ever seen! Your reflection on the direction we are going, I think is what we are all thinking. Thanks for sharing your art with us!
Best wishes to you and your family for 2017!
Thank you! So, is your name Linda or Linja, or does it depend on which blog I find myself? Have a great winter week!

Looks like time with the family over the Holidays was wonderful. Dinner sounded great!
Congrats to your son on his novel. I hope he sells lots.
The reflection in your bridge image is lovely and very painterly. The thought along with the image is poignant.
#1 Grandson loves Legos! I hope your little one there does too. Just last night I was helping him build a Batman, Superman, Lex Luther Junior Lego set he received for his birthday. The pieces are small so there are a lot of them and it took all evening. This evening. He’s taking apart the Bat-cave part and reinventing it. FUN STUFF for him. I like that he’s being creative.
Have a wonderful evening. I bet dinner was great. It’s always nice when someone prepares it. 🙂
Lovely captures! I loved the reflections one the most 🙂
Enjoyed your reflections (the mental kind) … a good start for the New Year.
Wonderful photos and thoughts for the New Year, Jesh! How wonderful that your brother could visit for the holidays. Nothing better than family and friends to celebrate with. Happy 2017 to you!
That was a fun post. How exciting for you with the family visits. – Loved the cute little possum and your pretty fence scene. Lots of great stuff here. Hope to join in on Seasons this month now that things are settling back to a more normal routine.
I like the Star Mill.
Great photos. Star Mill in Old Town Sac. looks like a cool spot. I like the gold/blue colors of the building. Cute little possum.
Donna
I really like the Star Mill photo. What a beautiful building. The Possum is cute too.
I like the title of your post and reflecting on what I hope to accomplish this year (and what is most important to me). Welcome to 2017, and happy new year!!
I enjoyed your statement about building a bridge to solve an issue. So true! Thank you for linking up and I hope to see you next week!
Great to know you started the year right! Wish you the best for 2017! Oh, and I would love to have some Beef Wellington. #PhotoFriday
It looks like you have a Dutch last name? (I am Dutch)
A great series of photos!
The little critter is so cute!
Have a wonderful week-end!
Loved your photo of the N. Dingley buiding.
Hi Jesh
You asked where I got the Gluten Free Trifle recipe I made for Christmas? I actually thought of it myself. I made a box brand Gluten free chocolate 8×8 cake and cut it up into cubes. I made a gf chocolate pudding mix in a bowl and purchased a can of cherries in syrup, making sure they were gluten free, and then whipped fresh cream. To assemble I placedhalf of the cubes of cake till it filled the bottom of the trifle bowl. then added half the pudding, then half the cherries and then half of the whip cream, and then repeated all the layers a second time, using up all the ingredients. Chill. Serve by dipping a large spoon through the layers and onto a plate. My grandsons loved it!
It sounds like you had a wonderful holiday. That’s great about your son, creativity must run in the family.
Sound delicious! You should post your recipe:):) Thanks so much. Cooking is not a strength of mine. Have a great weekend!
I love both our words and images. Lovely reflections. HAPPY NEW YEAR TO YOU and I hope 2027 will be a very healthy year for you also.
Thank you Sharon!
Enjoyed your reflections — a good idea to begin the year this way. The family pictures and the scenery are wonderful but I have to admit that the portrait of the peeking possum is my favorite.
