The Good: Afterglow of a surprise from a brother in Holland to his sis in the USA a week ago.

  • This collage is from Smilebox – could have made a better choice, but this is what it is:)
  • Awesome daughter made the perfect Beef Wellington (left top), who
  • immediately started helping with Macenzie’s first lego set.
  • Boo with his uncle (pretending to help),
  • San Francisco Airport, and
  • a shot with our oversees son who just wrote his first novel last month -what a ZEAL. We see him about every two years. We’re a tribe of 14, sorry- not pics of everyone this year

At the beginning of the year it’s good to review what is important.

After John Sutter came in 1839 to the American River,  the Gold Rush in 1848 created this commercial center. First called Sutter’s Embarcadero, became (now: Old Town) Sacramento. It was back then a “trading center for miners outfitting themselves in the gold fields.” (info@oldsacramento.com)

Uh, is it safe to come out in the New Year?
The direction we are going is important to us. We care about what is happening in the country we live in. (Tue Texture, Fri Greens, Sat. Critters)

Romans knew roads and bridges are necessary for travel. Sometimes we need to build a bridge (in our mind) to get to the other side of an issue

May the new year bring you fantastic things! As for your ‘question’ on my blog about the mountain photo, it was taken from the yard, too, as my camera has 83x zoom 🙂

  12. Looks like time with the family over the Holidays was wonderful. Dinner sounded great!
Congrats to your son on his novel. I hope he sells lots.

The reflection in your bridge image is lovely and very painterly. The thought along with the image is poignant.

#1 Grandson loves Legos! I hope your little one there does too. Just last night I was helping him build a Batman, Superman, Lex Luther Junior Lego set he received for his birthday. The pieces are small so there are a lot of them and it took all evening. This evening. He’s taking apart the Bat-cave part and reinventing it. FUN STUFF for him. I like that he’s being creative.

Have a wonderful evening. I bet dinner was great. It’s always nice when someone prepares it. 🙂

    Hi Jesh

You asked where I got the Gluten Free Trifle recipe I made for Christmas? I actually thought of it myself. I made a box brand Gluten free chocolate 8×8 cake and cut it up into cubes. I made a gf chocolate pudding mix in a bowl and purchased a can of cherries in syrup, making sure they were gluten free, and then whipped fresh cream. To assemble I placedhalf of the cubes of cake till it filled the bottom of the trifle bowl. then added half the pudding, then half the cherries and then half of the whip cream, and then repeated all the layers a second time, using up all the ingredients. Chill. Serve by dipping a large spoon through the layers and onto a plate. My grandsons loved it!
